Delivery plans crucial for accelerating nature delivery

Responding to the publication of the Office for Environmental Protection (OEP)’s 2022/2023 annual progress report on improving the natural environment, Signe Norberg, Head of Public Affairs and Communications at the Aldersgate Group, said: “Today’s report from the OEP underscores the importance of delivery plans to support the ambitions set out in the Environmental Improvement Plan and our long-term nature targets. With overall progress clearly faltering and largely off track, it is essential that a wide range of stakeholders are given clarity on how they can support nature restoration. Businesses stand ready to support biodiversity and nature restoration, but they need a clear, stable policy environment with supportive regulation and certainty on implementation. To drive private sector action and investment into nature, it is crucial that Government publishes delivery plans to achieve its stated ambitions, progresses with policies that have been long overdue – particularly on resource efficiency and land use – and works with stakeholders to ensure that there is a race to the top on restoring nature.”
