Aldersgate Group reaction: Climate Change Committee Adaptation Progress Report

Signe Norberg, Head of External Affairs at the Aldersgate Group, said: “These findings are a stark warning to the government that there is an urgent need to act decisively to ensure that the UK is prepared for the impending impacts of climate change. They also reinforce the importance of doing this alongside ongoing mitigation efforts. This isn’t just critical for our future health and wellbeing, it’s fundamental to delivering long term economic stability. Without decisive action, the UK will be faced with major disruption across all sectors of the economy, as well as vital public services, that will jeopardise growth and infrastructure projects. The government must take these findings on board and deliver a cohesive adaptation plan to prepare for the impacts of climate change. As outlined by the Committee, this should be properly resourced and bring together all relevant government departments and policy areas to ensure it has maximum impact. A proactive approach now is needed to protect our people, homes and businesses.”
