Reactive Quote: Government extends help to cut electricity costs for businesses
Reacting to the government announcing an expansion of the British Industrial Competitiveness Scheme, Head of Policy at Aldersgate Group, Beth Barker, said: “UK manufacturers are under real pressure from high and volatile energy costs, and it is right that the Government is taking action to support competitiveness during a period of global instability. Expanding the British Industrial Competitiveness Scheme will provide welcome relief for firms that are critical to the UK’s industrial base and supply chains.
“If designed well, this support can buy businesses breathing space while the UK doubles down on the reforms needed to bring energy costs down sustainably for all firms. That means faster grid connections, scaling up clean power, and providing targeted support to help industry invest in energy efficiency and electrification.”
