Reaction: CCC ‘Progress in reducing emissions’ 2026 report
Reacting to the publication of the Climate Change Committee’s (CCC) ‘Progress in reducing emissions’ report, Aldersgate Group Executive Director, Rachel Solomon Williams, said: “Today’s report from the CCC shows the UK is at a critical moment in its journey towards net zero carbon emissions. It acknowledges progress made over the past year, especially on the drive towards low-carbon electricity generation, but also calls for further action to protect communities and our economy.”
“The transition to a net zero economy is the economic opportunity of this century. British companies, workers and households can still reap the benefits if government takes decisive action to ensure that cheaper electricity is made widely available to consumers and businesses. Along with further support for electrifying heat, transport and industrial processes, this will ensure that the UK is more resilient in the face of global pressures.”
