Green Policy Review 2026

The Green Policy Review 2026 takes stock of the Labour government’s first two years on climate and nature and sets out the Aldersgate Group’s recommendations for the next phase under a new Prime Minister.

Since coming to power in 2024, the government has shown significant ambition, with tangible progress in several areas. But that momentum has not always been matched by the pace and consistency of delivery. Closing the gap between ambition and delivery is how action on climate and nature will support growth, resilience and long-term prosperity across the UK.

The Green Policy Review covers nine policy areas – nature restoration, climate adaptation, power and electrification, green finance, circular economy, industrial strategy and decarbonisation, transport, built environment and water – alongside the governance frameworks that underpin certainty for business.

For each, it sets out the key developments since July 2024, the gaps that remain, and recommendations to government.
