Funding

Funding

Aldersgate Group has been a trusted and independent voice in UK policymaking since 2006. As a non-profit alliance of businesses and civil society organisations, our work is made possible through a combination of member contributions and philanthropic funding. Together, our funders and members enable us to remain independent, evidence-led, and focused on long-term impact.

We are part-funded by our diverse and committed membership, which includes household-name companies, leading NGOs, academic bodies and professional institutes. Our members represent a diverse set of perspectives but are united in the belief that ambitious environmental policies make clear economic sense for the UK. Their support enables us to deliver robust policy advocacy, convene cross-sector dialogue and drive systemic change. See more about our members and learn more about the benefits of Aldersgate Group membership.

We are also grateful to our grant funders, whose support strengthens our capacity to deliver high-impact work. In particular, we thank the European Climate Foundation and the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation for their generous contributions to our programme of work.

Membership

Aldersgate Group actively invites organisations that are committed to advancing thought leadership and delivering tangible action on climate change and wider environmental challenges to contact us for a membership discussion. We seek members who demonstrate strategic ambition and sectoral influence in driving sustainability outcomes. Membership is subject to meeting criteria outlined in our application form, including evidence of leadership on environmental and sustainability issues. Our membership page has more information.

Philanthropic Funding

Our fundraising priorities focus on supporting our mission to accelerate the UK’s transition to a competitive and environmentally sustainable economy. We welcome funding which helps us to further these overall aims:

  • Developing policy insights with our members and through partnerships and research, helping to accelerate action by both policymakers and businesses across a wide range of policy topics.
  • Acting as a catalyst for systemic change, working with strategic partners.
  • Deepening relationships with decision-makers, leveraging recommendations that drives green growth, energy security and workforce readiness.
  • Organising high-profile events which draw senior speakers and attendees and drive collaboration across a breadth of organisations.

Future ambitions

Since 2006, Aldersgate Group’s work has been highly effective in supporting ambitious environmental action. To continue punching above our weight, we need to be both resilient and nimble, keeping up with a fast-changing external context. We are always interested in learning about new funding opportunities and welcome support that can help us to deliver at our best and independently, for the sake of the planet.
