WHAT DOES BUSINESS WANT FROM THE ENVIRONMENT BILL?

29th November 2018

As the Prime Minister noted when launching the 25 Year Environment Plan, a healthy natural environment sets the foundation for a competitive economy. Britain’s first Environment Bill in over 20 years is a unique opportunity to build on the government’s 25 Year Environment Plan and drive private sector investment in the natural environment and more resource efficient business models.

The event will feature a keynote speech from Thérèse Coffey MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the Environment and contributions from a multi-sector business panel. Speakers will debate key business priorities for the upcoming Environment Bill such as the role of the new environmental watchdog and the business case for long-term environmental goals. The event will also mark the launch of the Broadway Initiative’s Blueprint for the Environment Act report, which sets out how the UK can have a world leading environmental regulatory framework after Brexit.
