Improving the resource efficiency of the UK economy could deliver significant economic benefits but this requires the UK to bring clarity to its resource policy.
The Aldersgate Group is a partner in the EU LIFE+ funded project REBus, working directly with businesses to develop their own resource efficient business models. Pilots from the project have already seen £4.89m in financial benefit. There is huge potential to scale up these benefits nationally.
To reap these rewards, the UK needs to outline the future of its resource policy, which is currently based on EU Directives. The Aldersgate Group is launching its next report, Amplifying action on resource efficiency, which considers how transitioning to a resource efficient economy is a viable (and proven) avenue for the UK to further increase its resource productivity, boost employment and competitiveness and curb resource dependence and waste.
The event will highlight the report findings, feature a keynote speech from Dr Thérèse Coffey MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the Environment and Rural Life Opportunities and include contributions from a senior and multi sector business-led panel.
Panelists will set out their views on how their organisation or business has tackled resource efficiency and what they require in a resource efficiency policy framework to enable the transition to happen at scale as the UK prepares to leave the EU.
RSVP below to confirm your interest but note that due to the limited size of the room, places will only be confirmed by Monday 23rd January. In the event of high levels of interest, priority will be given to Aldersgate Group members.
This event will be photographed and images used by the Aldersgate Group.
The event will be live tweeted using #UKresources.
