Between 2000 and 2016, resource efficiency in the EU grew by 41%. Whilst this is encouraging, the growing economic and environmental case for improving resource efficiency means action must accelerate. This is particularly the case in a context where increasing the competitiveness of the European economy, supporting the creation of good quality jobs and delivering on important global environmental commitments are all top of the agenda.

With the Circular Economy Package and its Action Plan nearing completion and with businesses needing long-term policy certainty to invest in new business models, this event marked the launch of the Aldersgate Group’s latest briefing on resource efficiency.

Panellists explored the progress made to date by businesses and EU institutions on resource efficiency and debated priority areas of action for the years to come.
